Thomas P. Kennedy serves as both the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Sphinx Hospitality, Inc. With over 30 years of experience in real estate investment and asset management, Mr. Kennedy has managed large, diversified portfolios with complex ownership structures. His career reflects a proven ability to create value through strategic vision, negotiation expertise, and leadership that transforms complex organizations to effectively serve multiple stakeholders, including clients, shareholders, and employees. Mr. Kennedy’s negotiation experience spans leases, acquisitions, partnership agreements, sales agreements, and loan documents,
including workouts. Within the hospitality sector, he led the conversion of the 1,206-key DoubleTree at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida. His additional hotel-related experience includes prominent projects such as the Omni, Sheraton Key Biscayne (including a 40-acre development), Grand Bay (a five-star hotel), multiple Marriott properties in Orlando, and The Palace in Orlando, located on Disney property.
Mr. Kennedy began his career in 1982 as an accountant at Equitable Real Estate Management, Inc. (a predecessor to Lend Lease Real Estate Advisors), where he rose to the position of Principal Managing Director and member of the management committee of Lend Lease Real Estate Advisors—US, a role he held until 2003. During his 21-year tenure, he oversaw equity portfolios across asset classes, including hospitality, office, industrial, retail, land, and residential properties. His extensive track record also includes senior leadership roles such as:
• President of Behringer Harvard Opportunity REIT I, Inc. and Behringer Harvard Opportunity REIT II, Inc.
• Executive Vice President – Fund and Asset Management, Behringer Harvard.
• CFO and COO of UrbanAmerica Advisors, LLC, a registered investment advisor focused on urban renewal and redevelopment across U.S. metropolitan areas.
• Manager of an investment fund at TriLyn Investment Management, LLC.
• Managing Director at The Greenwich Group International, LLC, a real estate investment banking firm.
